I really like the high contrast against the black background. The hair detail is very good and the tonal range in areas such as the ear and nose etc is spot on. I also find the face profile very crisp and an appealing part of the image. What I don't like so much is the large expanse of unbroken white in centre frame which I don't think compositionally interplays too well with its surroundings. Maybe if you cropped in closer in around the face, or dropped the exposure a touch or raised the light (to accentuate jaw/cheek line), or had the model look towards us a little (not directly). The little bit of shoulder on the far side looks a bit hesitant as if it were an accidental inclusion rather than planned. Below are a couple of UF portraits for some more ideas to play with and Zosia Zija's B&W portraits here are always worth a look. Please don't think I'm being too critical, it's just that you asked for some comments and hadn't had a flood of responses yet, so I thought I'd pack a few in. :) If these are your first B&W portraits I think you're doing great!
