Beautiful lighting and colours. I love the dark background, it contrasts really well with the colours of the flowers. Nice work!

Hi again, Craig! Quite a surprise to meet you on Photoforum as well....:) Thanks for the exceptionally flattering rating....:) (at least, I guess I owe that one to you) I'm hardly ever there, but there are a few very good photographers on Photoforum with very inspiring work (too). Occasionally I post some of my work there, some stand alones, and some of my favourites from the UF triptyches.... Good to see your "mug-shot". Nice to know what you look like...:)
Cheers,
Hugo
PS: I think this is definately an improvement on the composition.

Well, more important, what do YOU think? It's very much as I imagined it, and I really do prefer it. Makes it much stronger, I feel. Thanks for the comment on that failed "people" shot. We so seldom get light of that quality this time of year so I decided to post it anyway. The overall quality of my uploads is taking a dive, but hey (I say to myself) I've got to learn to take more people. It's a learning process, right? Got to start somewhere...

Very nice macro. Like Hugo, I think the black background is good. As for the right-hand side, I think a square crop, with the RH-side end of the current rectangle completely cut off, might work even better. It would allow that fine flower on the right to dominate, without any further distractions to its right, and supported by the smaller pair of flowers on the left.

Hi Craig, I like the black background; it brings out the details perfectly. Maybe the photo is a bit crowded on the right, but it hardly effects the setting nor the admosphere. Great shot!
Cheers,
Hugo
