Hi Timothy, thanks for your comment on my dragonfly. I was looking through your post and saw you asking for help on this on this. I have never used a disposable camera and don't know their capabilities. But now that you have the photo scanned into your computer you can adjust it with any good photo editing software. I used my Ulead PhotoImpact program to give your photo a little going over with its tone map tool. I lowered the highlights to change the background to a grayer tone and adjust the midrange upperward to bring back the details in yours and your GF's face. Hope this helps.

It's a tremendous portrait. Real comfort here. I see King Chicken helped you. He's helped me too, but has disappeared! Wonder what happened to him! Another New Zealander by the way. You'll have to come down here. The only person I can think of using "neat image" at the moment is Kevin Collier. There are others. It's respected enough. Here's one of Kevins with it http://www.usefilm.com/image/541191.html Sounds like he had an ugly scan as well. You tried taking a photo of this with your 300d?

You make a very attractive couple. The strong backlighting caused your camera to underexpose the two of you. With a disposable or other non-adjustable camera, you would need to shoot where the lighting is much more even. Also, the flash can be used to fill in the shadows. Of course you probably know this already.
