Hi Chris,
I love this image, the tones espceially, and the sunbeams are awesome! But I immediately knew the gull was 'added', but I always kind of 'pre judge' a photograph before I read anything about it, that way I am not swayed by others. (then I look!) First thought that came to me was 'those gulls wings are not shaped right' I live in San Diego, California, so I know about gulls! LOL BUT...it doesn't bother me, I just noticed it! Good job indeed!
Lori :)

Chris: Very classical. It has a wonderful feeling to it. In my opinion, the bird adds to the composition. Of those who cannot accept modifications to photos, so sad. It is all artifice now isn't it?

Chris-- a beautifully serene image that evokes a powerful mood-- one of my favorite type of images. The toning is wonderful, and I like the gull too-- you did a good of integrating it with the seascape although it seems just a little too sharp-- perhaps just a touch of softening or blurring? --just a thought. Very nice work Chris-- 7s across;>) Cheers. Craig

As you may have guessed, Chris, my unease over artistic additions like this is visceral, and thus not totally under my control. I can admire something invented by the photographer, as I do in this case, and still feel that I would rather it had been left as God made it. My own instinct is probably the opposite--I strive to find the angle or the frame that shows what IS in the best possible light, as I want it to speak for itself. It may produce much more humdrum pictures, but that's the effect of my limitations.

That's not a 'Gull' John ... it's the 'Dove Of Peace'!

Beautiful dramatic light Chris. The Gull does nothing for me, but that does not detract. Regards John
