About Taken at St. James of Cal Sag Southwest of Chicago. St.James was built in the 1830s for the many Irish immigrants who found work building the I&M Canal. The I&M canal connected Lake Michigan to the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers and was instrumental in the growth of Chicago and its surrounding communities as a primary transport of people, products and material.
