when I look at a rose like this I always feel it should be in a vertical format since that is the nature of the stem and flower...I long for a bit more stem and a little less room on either side...I think the inclusion/addition of the shadow is a good idea, though a bit of a softer shadow would be preferable...I like the black and white for a presentation...I think it works well...

Great composition and good focus. I particulary like the green shadow but feel the green of the rose is too light. I think the rose is also a little past its sell by date.
