Roger,
What a cherub (in the renaissance sense). She has just the right look for it. I love soft and this works well - the only thing I would consider is the eyelashes. I always try to use the eyelashes as the sharp focus no matter what the light I am photographing the child in - it makes the eyes better and if you have the eyes people don't notice other things so much and if people don't like soft - you just might win them.

I think the softness is appropriate given the subject (although the foreground detail in the hair makes my eyes search for a plane of sharp focus but that's just me... lol) Great expression caught here with those cherubic lips, expressive fingers and inquisitive eyes. The B&W treatment adds an nice antique feel - almost expect to see the Aeroplane Jelly bouncing ball sliding across the bottom... :)

Roger; wonderful expression and pose here-- and the epitome of "softness" nice take! Oh, and I agree w/ you-- a little too much sharpening of the trees in my seascape. It was an overall "compromise" sharpening, and I've experienced that "etched" appearance before. Cheers. Craig
