I like this a lot. I like the distortion that you have achieved with the wide-angle lens. The muted color is great too. Very artistice. Also, the spot focus lighting that you use adds even more to the portrait.

Great shot, Sandy! I love the limited dof and scruffyness(?) to it. You've chosen the right way here, really!

actually, it is not even a slightly bad thing - it is a matter of taste and style and ones willingness to be who they are...

puts me in mind of - "When You're Strange."
the edits around the face are rough as suggested by Stefan,
However, studying your work puts me in mind of a conversation I had with another photographer regarding a third photographer (not you) he said that she was interested in creating the mood and the technical aspects were secondary (which drove him - a somewhat technical photographer (although he has excellent mood) a bit batty) ...In your case I would say this is true especially when I consider some of the hints you've left in various comments. This is not necessarily a totally bad thing - an overworked photo often loses some of the clarity of the mood. In your case, the slightly under-worked effect often leaves us with the feel of an alternative process photo rather than a digital image. BTW I hope you slept well after this one. ;)
Love,
Mary

The vignetting makes it looks as if he is peeking through an imaginary plane in front of him. The title makes me curious for his story. The edits around his face are little rough maybe... Raining on and off - it's a good thing :-)

I liked the Ulf?s comment in the previous photo ;))) so now I try to use my brain at its best even if it?s very late. Only you could use a wide lens to do a portrait, his face has a very original look, emphasized by the dark zone, I seem to look at him from the peephole of my door! Must I open? ;) Bye Max

Sandy, interesting perspective but it works well, almost like viewing him through one of those door peepholes.;) Great colours.

Good portrait Sandy. Always a black scaled frame support the 'center' of the subject in a photo and also here works nicely.
