I thought about this poem when I saw this so I am sharing it with you!
There are those who can see beyond That which is visible here and now Who are open to magic and free of the bond Binding us to the day's harsh reality That pulls us down to earth's practicality Accepting without wondering wherefore and how.
There is mystery all around Visible to those with a sense of Spirit Truly wishing not to be bound By the darkness of a clouded sight But instead seeing in a true light The blessings bestowed on us from Heaven.
So open your eyes And truly See The wondrous beauty of the sky The busy movements of a bee The glorious wings of a butterfly The trees full in flower Meadows emerald green The red promise of a new day to be Nature's magical mystery.
:)

Wonderful lighting and textures, Peta! I love the dark sadness and the sense of mystery you've created by having the woman's back to the viewer. The vintage clothing really makes this too!

A real treat for the eyes Petra. Perfectly composed image, excellent toning and lighting Great mood that brings me back in time. This is how I imagine a scene from Wuthering Heights, my favourite book ever. I love it! Absolutely brilliant work!!!!!

I think Stefan is referring to the large, bleached-looking spot on the corner of the stone. I somewhat agree with him because the spot, while attention drawing, is inconsequential to the photo. I'm sure it would be easy to tone down that one spot a bit.
Peta, I don't comment on your photos because I would give the same adoring praise every time! So let me just say that I find your entire portfolio very inspiring. I especially enjoy how you often include the originals - it gives the viewer that much more of an appreciation for your work!

I guess I'll blame this one on my peculiar double vision problem :-) The figure reminds me a little of the otherwordly creatures in "Dark City" - I can see her gliding over the ground into the necropolis. Thanks for posting the original.

Thank you all so much for the wonderful response to this image. My daughter titled it, and wished to become more 'mysterious'. Marilia and David, a special thank you.:) Hugs.
I am attaching the original...cause not sure what white spot you mean Stefan.:) She's was not stretched, it's all 5 foot of her and her own tiny waist...lucky girl! ;)

Looks like you stretched her, with great result may I add. The mood is perfectly gothic and entirely consistent with some of your other work, I really admire that. The only thing that bothers me slightly is what I perceive as the brightest value in the image is the little white spot on the gatepost. In a way it seems as if it is an illusionists sleight of hand trying to distract us from the reality of what happened to the lower part of the figure :-) That, or I need more coffee to function properly.

I came here, once again, Peta. This is one of the pictures that inpressed me the most in my life. Cannot explain why. Well, we should not try to explain things that touch us so deeply. I would love to see it hanging in an exposition. It is what it deserves, my talent, sensible friend. Hugs, Marília

Hi Peta; this work has very, very dramatic lighting. also some sadness about it, but without being ominous-- a little spooky and mysterious though. Very imaginative and nicely done. You're really getting good at working with these color tones. They must have some special meaning to you? Nice work! Cheers. Craig

As in other works of yours, you gave your best in the control of the lights, the colours and the toning. Besides this I must say that you composed the image perfectly, recreating a magic and severe atmosphere, but not lugubrious, despite the place where the scene is developed, I like very much that female figure and the fact that her face is not visible, this he emphasizes the mystery that is in the air. Bye Max

I derived enormous pleasure from this, Petra. It is so good on several levels. I relish the Romantic-Gothic feel of this - Emily Bronte with a dash of Edgar Alan Poe. I have to praise the imagination and the sensibilty that informs this image. And it is a treat for the eyes. Here is a happy instance where manipulation of the image is fully justified by the truth and beauty of the result. The crepuscular light and the muted autumnal tones are gorgeous. Here is real visual poetry.

I?m often assailing women friends over their affections for Poe?s Annabelle Lee; accusing them of romanticizing the notion of having a man prostrate himself at their graves. Here you?ve reversed the roles........and suddenly I find the idea [yours] very appealing! hehehe I really love this one, Peta!! It?s a favorite.....and now my screensaver!
ps off with their heads!
