About I have been shying away from the camera for 10 years- but have decided that my daughter would benefit having pics of us together. This is a hard thing- taking a pic of yourself. I would appreciate any tips on making this an easier process. Yes I have a 10 second timer and tripod but havnt used them as of yet

i like the composition and the crop. The expression of your daughter is wonderful. I agreee with using a tripod and self timer. Not sure how you could get better lighting but it seems it is all on your childs side and your face needs some more light. Still this is a fine portrait and I wish I could help more on the technical side.

Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!
You and your daughter look great! This is very soulful. This is something that she will treasure when she's older too, I just know it.
Thanks for your comments on my work(yes it was a self portrait, yikes!)

Regards-
Sarah :)

Nice to meet you Marianne.
Your daughter is awfully sweet. Very beautiful portrait, excellent tones. I like the mood of this image. Good crop.
Very well done
Congratulations

I just tried this for the first time myself a week ago or so, and it was alot harder than I expected. Your picture looks nice. I like the tight crop and the soft lighting, and your daughters expression is priceless. I think maybe a bit more contrast would make it look better, and your face could use some more light. When I did mine with my daughter I did use the tripod and timer-it helps. Nice job.
