This shot was taken the day after Thanksgiving, a day that I would assume go shooting than be close to any store in the USA. This lighthouse is a three hour drive from my home and I arrived at sunrise and stayed until sunset, traveling the lakeshore in between. This was an evening photograph taken with the moon on the rise. Thanks for looking
I like the photo! Lighting is nice, the moon is great and in a good spot. I would however play with the cropping. I live about 45 min away from M'Head and worked as a news photographer for the Salem News which is the next town over. I found myself out on M'head neck many times and never really looked at the lighthouse quite like this. Nice job.
I don't fully agree w/ previous comment about the trees- I think they add a nice vignetting effect and give some context. I would, however run a noise filter (such as NeatImage) to clear things up. After getting rid of noise I'd sharpen the lighthouse and moon.
Your file seems rather noisy. This is really noticable in the sky. Makes me think a watermark has been applied or the image has been over sharpened. The pixelated halo around the lighthouse makes me inclined to think it is oversharpening. The placement of the lighthouse is quite nice as is the lighting. The tree branch in the upper right is mildly distracting. Perhaps a portrait formatted image might have been helped reduce the number of branches in the photo. Not sure if this was taken with a focal length of 200, but zooming in even more wouldn't hurt. Nicely seen.
