I like your picture!
A suggestion: Use in Photoshop //Image//Hue/Saturation// and //Brightness/Contrast//. But you know: Reds are differentliy adapted by everyone....

I had the same thing happen on a picture of little girls in red dresses. The roll was processed at a drugstore. I took the negative to a pro lab and asked them to bring out the detail in the red, and it turned out great. It may have been the same film as you used (not sure). Give another lab a try.

Before we begin, let me just say that I haven't found anything to back up this thought, so I may be completely wrong. What I do is try to avoid photographing bright (i.e. high contrast) red flowers. I've always thought that the colour is so low on the electromagnetic spectrum that it's hard for any camera to pick up detail. And yet I've seen many red flower photos at Usefilm with perfect detail. Maybe they were all taken indoors with controlled lighting? I have a feeling it's not an exposure issue, but I'd like to hear from someone who has done this successfully.
P.S. - I took some shots of red flowers in early morning dappled shade today (because I never learn) with Velvia. If they turn out, I'll let you know. :-)

I've had problems like that where the red is over blown. Your best bet when you even suspect something might blow out is to bracket. Try to underexpose a few shots to see how the reds are handled... In the case of macro, a white sheet of translucent paper or something similar would be a good thing to interpose between the harsh sun and the bright red. You should still have amazing red tones, but less harsh light. Hope this is helpful!
