About Hi, I'm learning B&W photography. This is just a shot of water under a wooden pier.

As the sun was pretty strong, I set exp. compensation to -.5. Next time I will try Tri-X 400 instead of TMAX 400 (supposedly tri-x has better tonal range) and use a Red filter. :)

Nikon N80.
Nikkor 24-120 AF-S VR.
Kodak TMax 400
Shutter: 1/500; Aperture: f/8.
Shot handheld in Apeture Priority Mode.

Framing was created by adding photo to a PSD file I created to mimic look of medium format slide (just something fun to try in photoshop hahaha).

Any advice for B&W is more than appreciated! -- Rod :)

It's a great try. I too am just getting into filters and BW film. This is a great shot. I'm not sure the red filter wouldn't blacken the wood too much. I find an 81C gives me just the right amount of darkening, but again, I"m still learning too.

Great shot.
