This is an interesting composition you've chosen! I like the fact that the main part of the boat is not included. This also has the effect of making this a historically neutral image: theoretically, this could be 100, 500 years ago. Except of course they had no cameras then ;)

Jim, this is a great compositional shot. The angle you selected is just so perfect. All those line terminating towards the top and the sails crossing in a different direction is great. The detail is super and the contrast is excellent. Hell I'm running out of descriptives on this critique. Did you give a lot of thought to this shot or was it just one of those; this looks good, I'll take a picture of it. Sometime my best shots are the ones I gave little thought to. I believe instinct is more powerfull than thought sometimes.
