Not sure what you were trying to do, but a few suggestions right off the top.
Either put her in all shadow or all sun, but what you have there isn't working. Her chest is way overexposed (no pun intended) but this is due to half shadow half sunlight.
The color is off which could be the scan, but it is way too blue/cyan. This picture needs to be warmed up just a bit.
Work on the pose and keep an eye on the eyes, they are the focal point of most head shots, they must be clear, sharp and aimed in the right direction for the image to work.
She is a pretty girl, her lips should not be so taught, perhaps a small smile would fill her lips out and brighten her face a bit. Just prior to shooting also have her lick her lips to get them wet so they pick up some shine. Makes them look nicer with some highlights.
Also you are not shooting a mug shot in a linup, shooting straight on seldom yields a pleasing portrait. Have her rotate her body 20 or 30 degrees and turn her head towards the camera turning the head a few degrees left or right of the camera so it isnt straight on.
If you are shooting in shade, you probably should use a fill flash to lighten the girl and darken the background a bit. The subject should be lighter then the background, but not overexposed like you have it now.
Keep experimenting and you will get some nice portraits instead of snapshots to remember this special time.
