Good clarity on this one Alan. I also like the contrast between the warm colors of the butterfly and the coldness of the gray cement. By the way this is a Viceroy Butterfly, not a Monarch as suggested by one critiquer. Just in case you didn't know the species.

Sarah, thank you, and here is the story. This particular Bfly was Im afraid, near dying. He could only flutter up from the ground a bit, and doing so landed here and there near my porch. After my daughter tried to feed him with an eyedropper, I took photos as he landed here and there. I have some different photos I may post later. (although Im getting a tad butterflied out, Im overdue for an erotic architecture shot).As far as the editing, the only thing I did was this. The bfly landed on the stone birdfeeder, looking at the shot, the background coming from the inside of the feeder, was kind of yellow,rust colored, and I wasnt crazy about it.So I just selected that area, and desaturated a bit to grey. Thanks again.

Hi Alan, another beautiful image. You must have the paitence of a saint! How do you get all these wondeful butterflies? I love the contrast of the colors against the stark background. The details and clarity are great. I am so curious about it. Did you delete the color in the background or is this just as is? Once again, a terrific job!
