Artie, remember when you said "get the additional background light" for a previous portrait ... well I still haven't got it yet ( waiting for cash ). But youre right ... I think that all I need is seperation in background and subject ... which isn't happining in this photo as subject edge is fading into already dark background. I can't wait for an additional light. :)

very strong Image Richard........if hair had light on it the effect you were going for would be much more effective.....when you intentionally create an effect like this, which is really good you must be sure all the other elements of the image are correct..........picture this as it is but with a hair light or seperation of the hair fron the background....definitely worth a redo......very creative and effective image.......just nail the hair and it will scream....I promise

Actually I blured ( in Photoshop ) everything except for His face ... this was intentional ... just playing around ... experimenting ... looks better on larger images where it's obvious what I did ... his eyes and face are sharp ( as with everything else in original photograph ). Look again ... kind of "memory" or "dreamy" look with forced attention to his face. Take another look with that in mind and let me know if it stinks or helps.
