About I like the lone flower look of this daisy in such a bold, red vase, but that the daisy centre is hidden away, almost shy. The background is blue wrapping paper (glossy) used more to create a solid background then any other reason. Lamp was back/side lighting the flower and vase and I used a flashlight to highlight the front.
Comments are welcome.

Thanks for all the suggestions... I am a PS dolt, only really knowing how to clone, resize & desaturate!!! But I will try some burning and see what I can do with the petals.
Thanks for the tip Becky!

I especially like how the light hits the vase and the slight reflection on the table...I don't mind the daisy turned away...actually adds a bit more interest and mystery to the image...but the light on the back side of the petalls is a bit harsh...I also might try cropping this closer

Very nice. You could also very softly airbrush a bit of the vase color over the highlights at 4 to 8 percent to soften the highlight, but I don't find them too burned out. The best part of this, for me, is the reflection at the bottom. This almost has an oriental feel to it and I love the colors.

If you're finding the burn tool is giving you an odd colour when you burn, then change the range (on the top toolbar when the burn tool is selected) to "shadow" or "highlights" (obviously, you'd pick highlights in this case). Make sure the exposure setting is low. I usually go with 10% for delicate work.

Have to do this really quickly - I'll try to respond to the pic in depth later on. :-)

Hi Kim this is the address on my watercolored version of "Call Back" don't really change the image that much. http://www.photopoints.com/main/photos/showphoto.aspx
I think it might be to big for here for it was 316k.
This is a excellent image like the contrast and lighting a well done still life.

Thanks for all the comments, and thank you GP for such an in depth look and suggestion. The crop idea is a great one, as I like the reflection, but it wasn't solid due to the slight unresponsiveness with my wrapping paper *grin* And my PS skills aren't great, but I tried to burn the hot petals to tone them down a bit. I've noticed a slight colour shift when burning things though... slightly pink in this image. I tried to correct it so hopefully it's not too noticeable.
Again, thanks, and here is another look:

This is a beautiful still life, Kim, especially considering your "homestyle" studio lighting setup ;-) (I use the same kind of materials) - goes to show how much can be done without alot of expense, just practice and time... I love your concept here, and I think the vase is rendered beautifully - just perfect. I also love the gradation of tones on the flower from fron to rear, though I do think the highlights are a littl blown out (over exposed). I do see a little detail in them that could be pulled out in a photo editing program like Photoshop (a couple gentle pases with the "burn" tool set to medium tones rather than highlights should probably do the trick).

Your composition is beautiful as well, although personally I would crop up from the bottom past that dark band to the bottom of the main vase reflection. I think that may serve to ground the vase a bit more compositionally rather than floating with that bit of extra space. But that is just my two cents worth of personal opinion. This is a beautiful image showing outstanding technique. Excellent work.
