Awww he is a cutie! As a dog lover and owner of 4 at the moment I for one love a good dog shot and this is one! Yes the dock if bright but it does not bother me a bunch in this shot. The dog is so perfectly composed and sharp it just does not matter.
Thanks for your kind comments on the multi. You will have a blast with them! Just remember to do a lot of them as they will all be different. Have fun!

For me, the eyes and head are the main attraction, and they are in focus and sharp, so I'm okay with that... are you thinking that it needs to be sharper in his face? (but then again, I'm so used to my horrible scanner that maybe I'm just thinking this looks super sharp already!!!hahahahaha)

Position of dog`s head imo is just right, could the subject area use a little sharpening?

Nice dog portrait. I like it as-is and don't think you need more of a profile. Nice expression and the ball is a good touch.

Thanks Dave... with these last two dog photos I feel I'm made a jump to the next step... It's nice to hear that echoed with others. So again, thanks for all your help!

Kim I really think you nailed this one! I think you've achieved what you were going for. Great DOF, really nice and even lighting on the dog, and the focus is sharp right where it's supposed to be. I think the combination of the profile and expression work here just fine. I agree with Becky that the dock might be a little hot, but frankly I didn't even notice it until she mentioned it. Nice job!!

Thanks for the comments again... and Becky, I was curious if anyone else would think that the dock was too hot. I liked the exposure on Neko and thought that it maybe wouldn't matter that the dock was hot, but I toned it down in PS and I think it looks better. Of course, my PS skills are nowhere near as good as yours, and so it probably has some flaws! Okay, enough blabbering... here it is. *grin*

Hey Kim - I like these last two "dock" photos a lot. A great close-up and the composition is good too (although you could probably still crop a tiny bit off from both top and bottom). The colours are nice - I especially like the contrast between Neko's red coat and the dark green background.
I think the profile is just fine - it looks almost 90 degress to me. His face is expressive too - you picked a good moment to trip the shutter.
The only criticism I have is that the dock is overexposed and therefore detracts from your subject - could you tone it down in PS?

A very beautiful portrait, the character comes through OK, my dog loves balls, she is never without one, best regards - Richard.

Thanks for the comments so far. I'm glad that you liked the expression, Peppino... I wasn't sure if enough character was coming through.
