About This is a female Velvet Ant the males look different and have wings. The female packs a powerful sting. These insects may look like an ant but they are actually parasitic wasps. They lay eggs in bees and other insects. Don't pick one up I haven't been stung by these guys but its so painful that one common name for them is Cow Killer. The sting is that powerful it might not kill a cow but WOW.
