We do love being able to spend a good chunk of the summer at the lake. There are lots of good friends and the sunsets are lovely. With all our years there though, we have seen only a few sun pillars.

Thank you Mary. Living near the coast or water has given a sunset lover like yourself a great opportunities. It has given me the same. Love your sun pillar image. I had seen one quite noteworthy on a "working" vacation at a nearby beach home a number of years ago. I had gathered dinner for the night at a local store, and as I walked out to my truck, the pillar to the west was huge! However, .............. and the beach house with my camera, was 8 to 10 minutes away. ..........had only I'd known, I would have stayed at the cabin, on the beach, with my camera, and starved to death having a once in a lifetime, fabulous sun pillar image. ;) Story of my life............... I don't get no respect. haa haa! :)

Thank you all so much for the comments. I try to keep true as to the colors from these old slides of mine when I convert them to digital. This slide actually has a little more blue and purple in the sky. I don't want my images to be deceptive. I have a hard time deciding what is "honest" when presenting an image. What are the rules? Are there any? I used to think, "what you shot is what you got" That said, I also realize that photography is an art form, but I prefer to be close to what I shot with the exception of the digital conversion cleanup and sharpening. Kodachrome was a hard media contrast wise, and I have discovered that during digital conversions, I can correct some of that. Thank you again. I appreciate any feedback, positive or negative.

This is very pretty. The colours and reflections are lovely. Your composition and crop are quite effective.

It's old. I don't even own a decent digital. Most of what you see in my portfolio are digitized KR64 and sometimes KR25. Funds are low, so I can't go digital in the manner that I would prefer. Since this website has come back on line, my new images will be done with a Canon 9950F photo scanner. My older images have that inherent blue cast from being digitized and they were done with a lower quality scan by a department store's photo lab. Those older images required a lot of fixing. Now that I am in control with this "new to me" Canon scanner, plus that I have acquired a bit more skill in cleaning and color correcting my old slides, my photography has been given a new breath of fresh air............... hundreds of yellow boxes to go. :) I miss Kodachrome in a huge way. Thanks for the comment, Phillip
