Ryca, I do not mind any constructive critique. Thank you for your efforts. I will see this little guy again in two weeks. I will try your suggestion then. I do like your improvements. You are right I have made it worse. Fortunately, I have saved the original and can start over. ;}

Love the colors and expression ..
anyway the exposure didn't looked very strong here, u just need to decrease it about 2/3stop.Here's my result, not quite different with Allen's and I've decreased the contrast of the pumpkins also.
PS:
tobe honest, ur last pic attached is worse than before ;) Maybe the amount of shadow that u add was too much. I hope u dont mind, Linda :)

Thanks for you help. The goal is to get it right in the camera. Any suggestions there? When I put the baby in the shade he is to dark, when I put him in the light he looks sick. I tried the late afternoon, and early evening and this is the results. I am thinking I will try the shade with a light with a soft box on it. I am going to shoot him in studio in December hopefully I can get better results when I can control the lights. :)I tried suggestion to adjust highlights/shadows. What do you think of results? Better or worse? Be honest. Your interest is greatly appreciated,Linda

Thanks for your suggestion. Yes, I am using Photoshop CS5 extended.I went to highlight/shadows and then to more options where I think I found the most help. Although, I think it is improved my goal is to get it right in the camera. Ooof... not always so easy. Attached is my effort. The more I mess with it the worse it seems to get. What do you think? Thanks for your help.

Cute shot. If you are using Photoshop, try adjusting with shadow/highlights function. Image>Adjust>Shadow/Highlights.
Then move Highlights slider to the right. Also, you can darken slightly with an overlay layer. Good luck!
