Basically I did a bit high contrast,intentionally, to depict a harshness...Anyway,I will take care of the contarst part :)

well, a really strong picture, a telling story and that's great
just one nit and one comment: it's a tad overcontrasted and I wonder how it would be focusing the face instead the feet but knowing you perhaps you took booth approaches :)

Very emotional capture which expressing life suffering to survive.
Perfect choice of focusing over her feet because it distinctly tell her whole story.
Despite that her body is out of focus but it's thinness still appearing. the picture is well composed because it shows her stuff of sandals and - maybe - her walking stick.
