About The water basins in the valley are part of the Tucson Water Avra Valley Storage and Recovery Project, recharging Colorado River water for long-term drinking water underground supply.

The Colorado River water is brought via the Central Arizona Project canal, then allowed to percolate and mix with the underground water table.
