About One of the many hoodoos along the Navajo Trail, Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah. Original color image filtered with polarizer. RGB image channel separated: R85, G10, B5. Converted to grayscale. I liked the composition of this image, especially with the predominant R channel that contrasts the sky from the rock structure.

In western North America, HOODOO is defined as a natural column of rock, often in fantastic forms, that resemble (among other things) human figures and attributes.

Andrew, I'm glad I found came across your portfolio. You show an impressive level of mastery of multiple areas of photography, from fascinating and beautiful photomicrography to stunning landscapes such as this one. The tonal gradation from lower right to upper left is fantastic and the tree at lower right balances the hoodoo wonderfully in the composition. Congrats.

Looks national geographic to me !! Wonderful composition, the dead tree on the right really sets up the image, love it in B&W. jimc

Oh, big job ! What can I say... Perfect control of all : composition, forms, light. Beautiful black and grey tones on your background. And thanks a lot for your two encouraging comments.

Hi A.,

very good work ... looks nearly like an IR image due to the channel mixer settings.

Greetings from Germany

i am aghast..first, about the photo, second, for the precise adjustments used in the channel separation. This is extremely helpful to me as i have begun playing around with channels and find the changes fascinating. Your photo is impeccable. The composition is so elegant and modern i could almost cry at the delicate beauty of the scene. i do not know what a hoodoo is but i do know a beautiful image and this is one. And, btw, you can live vicariously through my photos of CR quite regularly because there is not much i enjoy shooting more than this country. Perhaps someday you can visit! Thanks for sharing..kat~

Excellent work. Wish for perhaps a slightly less severe crop, but the creativity here is awesome. Great job.
