for a six centuries ,this cross and few others have been left on the outer walls of Aya Sophia after being transformed into a mosque for 500 years. not to mention the Ottomans Empire have contained and well receipted the Jews from all over the Christian world after they have been followed by the inquisition courts in Spain and other parts of Europe. A place where there is so many places to others.
Fine capture, well spotted; and fine "About" too... Just I have to add a thing about Jews, that the Christian Europe which pursued them didn't contain Poland; Jews were escaping here too and found quite a safe place since XIV century when our king invited some who ran away from Spain.
That reminded me that Ottomans Empire was open also for Poles who escaped after an uprising against Russian authorities, when a big part of my country was under Russian reign, in XIX century.
