Well, if one is able to turn all the problems and disantvantages to benefits and advantages, no matter if it is about the fig or the lens or anything else... then it is the crown of good technique, Visar. And if on the top of that the technique serves the needs of the whole rather than each and every small detail as a separated thing from the whole, then we have tremendous photography. Of course one has to go through the process of recognizing more and more details of what good photography consists of, but after that one should re-combine everything in the sense of the "general plan".
Good photography has much in common with a well carried out project. All details have to harmonize with each other and in case of such a good coordination great images are the results.
As about the loopers... oh well, I still hope! ;-)
Cheers!
Nick

Hi Ray,
i do appreciate the fact that you point out my ever carfulness on composition, which is the prime criteria of any work that i decide to upload/ classify. but, beside that, i always intend to going further with that what i choose to treat. so, that being the essence of it, i feel quite good when one tackles it, and sees with it.
perhaps would not be fair to compare, but only to make the point clear, the technique of the artist is unquestionable- and that, in any way, does not mean that one cannot negatively criticise that work. but the technique always is the prey of the subject one treats. and for that there is as many examples as one likes.
cheers to you, v.

I realised that it was intentional my friend as the same patterning appears on at least another one of your wonderful compositions. I just couldn't or appreciate the point of it is all. Perhaps rather than spoilt I should have said unnecessary. The shot was more than good enough to draw my attention BUT........ Very best wishes V..........Ray

hi Nick and thanks a million for pointing out the strongest point of this work. and that is that "whole" that you name, rather than chiping teeth in search for technical failiures.
though, i have to admit that i had a little problem with the focus. the thick fog was coming on my way, adding to it the "cheap" objective i used here, nontheless i just could not let go that feeling it was sheding this whole atmosphere.
still, i assume there is much room to improve that- for the loopers ;)
many regards, v.

Hi StingRay,
thank you a lot for the congratulationes on the award and for the comment.
spoiled you say!! good to know your opinion, though mine differs quite a lot from that, as it is all intentional. i wanted it that way. you see, you still read what image wants to show, and that makes me feel good about that ;)

Hi Saad, and thanks for the comment and questions,
firstly, i have to let you know that there were some minor technical issues on this photo. despite that, the composition was quite convincing for me, and that is what made me go on and work it out. beside, it is quite commoly percieved that fog shots turn out nice, but, we musn't forget that under such conditions one must be too careful in order to extract the intended results; which i faild!
now, regarding the additional techniques that i apply to my work, and on this one, there is layers and filters and scratches which i have particularily worked out for such pictures. there is nothing unintentioned.
on top of it all, i also like the idea of working out an image rather than just letting it be a shot fight out from the camera- (that is concerning the digital photography, whereas, concerning film there is much too different an attitude ;))
cheers, v.

A more than diserved award, Visar! Much much more than simply diserved! The clarity of the scene and of what it conveys is carried by nothing more than the scene itself. It would be a mistake here to refer to the typical "details" and similar things, since it is the light itself and that strange "creamy" and smooth set of gradients that generate the definite kind of view. Especially the difference of lighting from the main subject toward the depth lets the protagonist stand out very strongly without the need for extra details. This time we see that soft focus can not only be "interesting" but also in some ways a much better description of the subject than a sharp focus. In such cases the "whole" is moren than its tiny little parts, isn't it? There is no need to put everything under the magnifying loop when the photographer is able to grasp the "whole" of the scene at once.
Hat off!
Nick

CONGRATULATIONS for your POD award, well done for that. The composure is excellent and you have achieved great balance to this wonderful atmospheric shot. The tones are superb and the attitude and body language of the lone person is just perfect for the subject. It is, however, a little spoilt by the black marks that cover the upper right and dot themselves around randomly. Now that's a shame. Best wishes..........Ray

out of focus, hazy colors, very blurred background, and so obscured details, those what distinguish foggy days from others days and they are all present in so strong way,but what are those black dots and patches ? are those meant that you are looking from behind veil or shelter ? Yes it give the feeling of such a hated day very vividly, and with a little sad feeling. my best. Saad.
