Wow wow wow wow wow! I only wish you had written your prose earlier (in the "about" section under the photo) so that everyone could experience the incredible double whammy of your words with the image. Both are so incredibly strong, but together this is an absolute knockout! You ARE the Man! Amazing..............

Her
It had been twenty-five years and yet she was still there. A piece of her being or perhaps a bit of her vital essence had lodged itself in his mind, like a pebble in his shoe. Unlike a pebble in his shoe however, the ghost of her that lived inside him and haunted his thoughts every day could not be evicted, nor did he particularly want her to be. He had stopped trying to forget her a long time ago. She was there to stay and he gradually took comfort from that. In fact she was no longer she. Whatever it was that he would not let go of was now part of him. It stopped being her the very last time he saw her if in fact it ever was her to begin with. He had asked friends if they had seen her but she traveled in different circles. Someone did tell him that they had seen her at the tennis court once and that she was still beautiful. By now she was older, maybe married, maybe dead. It hardly mattered anymore. He would never try to find her, let alone contact her. By now she would be different, the circumstances of life taking its toll. Besides, maybe she was never who he thought she was in the first place. What he saw in her, how she made him feel, the way he thought she made him feel anyway, was something that came from him in the first place. She inspired it, that was true enough, but she had remained detached and oblivious. She was just the vessel from which he had come to know it. From whatever sources these feelings came into being, it was still her that he thought of. From a point fixed in time he thought of her face, the way she said his name, the way her hair smelled. Her cruel indifference never diminished her charm. She was the perfect predator. He had always known this about her and yet he had loved her as completely and as fully as was his capacity to do so. He imagined that, when he was on his deathbed, she would still be there with him. Perhaps in a moment of lucidity which he may experience before his final breath, he would speak to her and she would answer. He didn?t really care what she had to say. He just wanted to hear his name on her lips. That would have been enough for him.

I just don't know why (as usual... ;-)) but this great pic just made me think of that song by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush......
[.../...] don't give up 'cause you have friends don't give up you're not the only one don't give up no reason to be ashamed don't give up you still have us don't give up now we're proud of who you are don't give up you know it's never been easy don't give up 'cause I believe there's the a place there's a place where we belong...
And, by the way, I think that Fabio's right... Making pics for and with others is doing good to you... Keep being inspired then !!!

all the tragics of love and hate in her face : little wonder, after all what jonathan had done to it :) (no, to be serious: it is outstanding your selfs were more and more in danger to end in a blind alley of ironical clownesque self-degradation. as in the case of the portrait of your father, this one is able to transmit the character without overstressing)

it usually disturbs me that a photo is something more than a photo but not a paint... however, in your work, i want to discover the "ingredients"... why she was looking like that... was she sad?... spots behind her, were they trees and a house?
