Beautiful capture Dan, Looks great to me and I love the background patterns, some times a slight fill flash is the only way I can get the dark parts of a dark bird to expose and still keep that beautiful BG.

I like the balanced exposure here, the details and the ground blurring level is another addition to compelete the cmposition of this well captured photograph.

Very hard to get a clear pic of these birds Dan. They move so quick and seem to know where every branch is to hide behind. Cheers. Keith

Thanks Mike, it wasn't really about the tongue, I was just more supprised to see it in this shot, as they normally only stick it out in the flower. Well it got you looking anyway so I suppose that is good or frustrating. Cheers Dan

great shot Dan love these nature shots of nzs finest may be crop the shot so tui,s head withthe flower above and below are in picture so the tongue is the center of the picture so we look at the tongue instead of the whole bird i looked at this photo for a while before i even noticed the tongue yours mike

These birds are actually very black with a hint of green, I agree the bird still needed a little more lighting though, thanks so much for your honest comments
