About
This photo was taken late last summer. The bull's horns are almost completely grown. During the growing process, the horns are covered with a tissue that is very vascular to provide the the growing structures with a blood supply. Once the growth has been completed, this tissue dies off and the bull scrapes the dead tissue from his horns on trees and bushes. They are now ready for fighting during matting season. Some time during the winter, the horns will fall off and a new set will be grown the next year.
