Now THAT is a critique, my friend !.. and thanks a LOT for that. My approach to shoot people nowadays has been, in general, to try unusual angles (this one was almost from ground level). And since I am more bothered with the angles, I am pretty sure I kept the aperture at a "safe" f8, and shutter speed at close to 1/250 (it WAS quite bright indeed). I receovered some details on the faces using layers in PS, and burnt the sky a bit. But overall, I am pretty satisfied with this one.
Thanks a ton !! Avi

Avi...you've set the bar here by asking for a CC on an image that is almost perfect. Your subject is very well placed in the shot too.
Now...you used 17mm so you're getting the benefit of that wide-angle which is awesome (and the best choice) but light metering on average when the subject is dark skin against a much brighter BG seemed a surprise. I think had you stepped back from the F/8 to increase the shutter speed just a hair, you could have kept good exposure and gotten better detail in the face side without either a fill flash or much cost to your DOF. In fact, you may not have needed to change the shutter speed. But that's picky stuff, my friend! Truth be told, this is one awesome shot! :)
Regards, Doyle I <~~~~~

Oh dear Doug,
I see you are fighting today with several people on UF and this is not the first time you are trying to provoke me ... :((( I can just send you my best regards and Avi and all decent people on UF know I could not give him my rework of his fabulous work cause I am just an amature and I am not half good in post processing as Avi is ... and he is one of my favorite persons, photographers and friends here on UF and in a way my idol ...
Just have to repeat ONLY once again what I ve wrote you once after all your insulting to me ... still do remember you were kind and fine person and just can not understand your bitterness lately. Anyway wish you all the best !!! Sincerely best regards to you Doug from the most narcissitic person in your opinion on UF.
And Avi, I am so sorry I use your space for this kind of conversation :(((( Hope you will forgive me. Cheers Avi :-)

Avi, (via Srna) ...
Instead of just complaining perhaps other photographers no matter how narcissitic they may be perhaps they could have provided a 'Courtesy Rework' as I will do now and then you can archive it in your 'Scrapbook of Timeless Images' ...
Best of Regards!

there are actually three spots - two on each of their heads, and one on the nose of the masaai on the left. but I felt they look natural enough, as those spots show the reflection of the sun shining off their smooth dark skins. thanks for the feedback, but I'll wait to see if others don't like it too.
thanks Srna !! hugs, Avi
