Interesting statue, to say the least! A piece of art like this must have people standing over it evoking conversations left and right. You've captured it well, dear Jen. It does stir a little angst in me, simply because of the statement it makes. In my eyes, I interpret it to say it takes both man and woman to raise a child, an equal amount of both sexes to be balanced...just my nerdy opinion lol Great work dear and excellent find!

It's shock value. It has *nothing* to do with Michael Angelo. If it's shock value, it's not art.

I can imagine compassion for someone like that Jen. But there's no way on earth... not in my wildest dreams... That I can imagine having that... in my living room. Or my backyard. And paying money for it. I mean, who would I be trying to kid? It's just a pity, Liberal, feel good kind of thing. It's detestable. No matter where it's located.

The 12ft (3.6m) marble sculpture, "Alison Lapper Pregnant", is already dividing opinion among art critics and disability campaigners.
Artist Marc Quinn said he had sculpted his friend Ms Lapper because disabled people were under-represented in art.
The Disability Rights Commission called it "powerful and arresting", but one critic dismissed it as "rather ugly".
Ms Lapper, from Shoreham, West Sussex, sat for the artist when she was eight months pregnant.
She has called it a "modern tribute to femininity, disability and motherhood".
Alison's statue could represent a new model of female heroism
A modern Venus de Milo But she added: "It still daunts me now. I'm going to be up in Trafalgar Square. Little me."
Mr Quinn spent 10 months working on the statue in Italy from a single piece of white marble.
"I felt the square needed some femininity, linking with Boudicca near the Houses of Parliament," Mr Quinn told BBC News.
"Alison's statue could represent a new model of female heroism."
But Robert Simon, editor of the British Art Journal, said: "I think it is horrible.
So, this is what its about Terry, you either like it or dislike it, at least it was great news:) Thanks for all your comments dear, Regards Jen

If you know Trafalgar Square, you should know this is the most famous spot in London, so imagine having it in your livingroom or backyard, it will be worth thousands of pounds Terry, just like any head of any president, bad or good:)) I think this stands for unableds, being able to live a normal life, being pregnant and having baby's, with or without arms or legs...what about that?

It seems female. But it has no limbs. And hair and a face that are definitely male.

What sort of person would buy that? What would they do with it? How on earth could they justify the expense? :)
