Thanks a lot for the info, Paul! I'd rather go for covering her arms also with similarly strong textures, but perhaps also this would be too much.
Cheers!

The overlay texture, Nick, was actually flaking paint from an old pole (see the attachment above). I moved the texture until the strongest was on her face, the star of the shot. When I did, I saw that her arms were less textured than her face, and liked the way it looked.

The projection of those shapes on her face worked very very well, Paul, and especially because of the combined direct but not spectacular look into your lens. BTW, the focus on her eyes is as amazing as it had to be for such an image! On the other parts, like for example arms, etc, the projection is much less powerful but I think that the face itself is paying back for that. It has also a bit of that strange look of encountering... something else. (Cat-girl or something.)
An special reason why you decided to limit the strong projection on her face? Would it be too much otherwise
Cheers!
Nick

I have been spending more time studying the pictures from my shooots. When I see a picture that is a little blurry I compare the camera settings and focal point(s) to another picture that came out perfect. I also have been placing tape on the floor to mark where to place the lights for different type of shots. I just need to spend some time documenting problems I have and how I corrected them.

Oh, BTW, feel free to quiz me on any shot I've posted if it will help you accelerate the advancement of your own sessions.

Likewise, Clay. I learn as I go.
Shoot a little and study the photography that you admire. Try to emulate the shot and your learning will leap forward, as you get a better feel in your own head of what kind of light setup will yield what you're imagining.

Thanks for the quick photoshop lesson Paul. I will definitely try it out on one of my headshots. As you can see I'm no photoshop expert but am learning as I go. I never took any photograpy or photoshop classes. Everything I've done is self taught and by just "doing it".

Gosh, Clay it took about 2 minutes for this:
Load and crop Stacey Load my texture image (shown below) put my texture on top and set it to Overlay mode Create a mask only showing texture over skin Turn texture layer opacity down to about 30%
Done. ;)

That trip to LA is working out here. Is it abstract ? Donno. Suggest a higher crop at her armpits. Its different and thats good.
