The small size helps with getting the entire specimen in focus. You did a great job, Dave!

Hi Dave,
You caught this guy perfectly. They certainly look a lot different up close than they do when there are thousands of them all sitting in the middle of the road at the same time, sunning themselves.

Great detail, you can almost count the little hairs on its legs. I am always surprised at how much more detail you can get with a camera than with your naked eye. Del.

One of the very best macros of an insect I have ever seen, Dave! The butterfly is perfectly defined here, along with all its fine details. But not only that! The green surroundings bring also the certain feel of being in that scene myself, and being able to observe its world from the inside. The very good lighting and high contrast make it all look very very vivid and real! But still it has also something silent in its own way.

Very carefully done job!

Pretty nice Dave for such a small butterfly which is hard to capture. Detail looks great. The crop and the overall colours are very complimentary and make the total shot. Well done macro.

Hi Dave, you separate the skipper good from the back ground, the skipper butterfly feeds on nectar from flowers such as fleabanes and purple coneflowers. The caterpillars prefer grasses such as little bluestem.... :)greetings from Riny
