Amazingly, there were quite a few koalas moving around, some with babies on their backs. We were at some park area not far off the Great Ocean Road on the way to Kangaroo Island (the name escapes me now). Most of them did look a bit stoned... must be true about the eucalyptus leaves.
I don't believe it! The sun is shining, the koala is awake. It is even doing something remotely interesting. I have lived on this continent all my life, I am yet to get a photograph of a koala doing anything but sleeping. Great shot, what is your secret? PS they say that koalas sleep all the time because they dine exclusively on eucalyptus leaves and are permananetly intoxicated! Maybe it is just folklore, or maybe you have dispelled the theory- he looks very alert. CC
