Hi Julie - thx for the feedback. And please know that I always value your opinion.
There were very deliberate reasons for putting the plant where I did, mostly having to do with communicating the context and location of the shot.
Likewise, the reason for showing this particular image rather than one in which the entire shadow is captured has to do with my overall approach to photography which (very briefly stated) is to strip the scene down to as little as is needed to tell the story.
Showing more of the man's shadow would not have made the fact that it is a man walking any clearer, meaning that more of the man would not have meant more of a story.

Nice capture Mike. In my opinion I would have chosen a different angle so you didn't have the plant right in front of you, although it is not the focus I feel that is a bit disturbing to the image and if you were in another angle you could have gotten his entire shadow which would have made this image more dramatic. Hope you don't mind my opinion my friend :)
