About I was tempted to make this colour image appear as a black and white, but decided to leave a hint of colour in the grass, I think it helps the image maintain some of the personality it might have lost in black and white.

I think you're right about the colour, Ed, and you've got very good exposure for both the whites and greys here. An interesting example of the symbiosis of these birds and animals.
