Thanks a lot for the info, Paul! Now, *that* makes sense to me! It's so easy to understand that I wonder why I didn't think of that by myself. But many thinks are first then "trivial", when you know that they are "trivial".
Thanks a lot!

Thanks for your confidence in me, Nick.
As for using two lights: Any principal light is going to cause shadows, so the use of a second light can help to lighten those shadows. I actually have a third strobe I use to back-light and increase separation from the background, but a friend knocked it over during a location shoot, and it's being repaired.

Haha! I can insure you that I could take dozens of bad shots of Lyz (or anybody else) simply because I don't have your experience and skills, Paul! I think I could upset even the best looking model with my shots!
Which, I have the feeling, many too many would simply cache using 8762 filters and presenting the resulting chaos as "arts", instead of going for hard work! I am so glad to see that there are still guys out there, that use the real power of PS, which implies its action onto images that deserve the name.
About the strobes, you had two of them. And you also said that you had two lights for Callie. So, my ignorance generates my question to you: Is that double effect of light on the film/CCD/whatever something usual? Is it used often? According to pure physics it is the same kind of doubled work of light, but in hiow much is that a "good" method for such or similar shots?
Cheers!

Thanks Nick. I had two strobes and then applied a darkening gradient to the background to emphasize the depth and the lighting. I'm glad you like it.
It's really hard for me to get a bad shot with Lyz in front of my lens. ;)

I find its attitudes towards a high-key very inetersting, Paul, since I'd rather feel more attracted to the darker and earthy tones here, which I assume would also prevent me from getting such a shot that fits better her "lighter" appearance - in terms of color. Again I am very impressed by your high fidelity photography that still paints its subject in the best possible strokes and tones. Which also convinces me further that good technique and artistic attitudes are not at all to be considered as the two extreme opposites, like many too many want to tell me here. You put such a light on her on this one, as if all spotlights of the world would be directed right on her.
Really, Paul, you could go for submitting your work to the best fashion magazines around.

Thank you, Alfredo. This was early morning, with heavy clouds. I brought two strobes and a battery to get this soft lighting.

Lyz doesn't have a nose ring, but she does have a tiny stud in her nose.
I find I've been getting more and more subdued with my copyright, realizing that if someone is drawn INTO the photo, and begins scanning the image, it is inescapable that they will read my watermark.
As for the crop, the original shot was a bit looser above, but her feet were out of frame already.
thanks for the thoughtful feedback, Sophie. Hey, post some fresh stuff so's I can comment on it! ;)

Very nice. Does she have a nose ring? If she does, well it looks like she does, it adds a great little touch and really sets off her bangle. Nice tones. Great outfit and tones. Love the cool placement of your copyrights. They are never overpowering (mine are with intention), yet they are still noticeable. Nice work. Perhaps the only point I could mention would be to have zoomed in a little bit more, perhaps to her shoulder and knees, or include the feet. Either way. Good stuff =) Sophie
