About Taken on top of mountain Minthi in Peloponnisos,Greece (1224m).I lighted the building with my headlamp and kept the shutter speed short enough to prevent the washing out of the city lights in the background.

thanks Peter ;-)
no,i didn't use any filters except a UV to protect the lens
yes,you can do it with any camera that has a Bulb setting. If the shutter works mechanically things are easier, otherwise you have to use fresh batteries.
yes,i use software to improve my images.

Kostas, how long did you keep the shutter open in this one?

BTW - I didn't know stars were so colorful... But I am a bit confused with the direction of the traces.... hmmm...

So what exactly is short enough to get star trails but not to let the lights be washed out? :-)

I like the image, but one thing I would change is the composition - positioning the building even more to the right (or left). That way, the star trails would probably converge on (or diverge from) the building, creating an even more interesting effect.

Kosta this is excellent! Technically flawless and of course very creative! The result is beautiful!Maybe i'd prefer the composition less centered

Awesome shot!!! I have tried this with limited success...too much light polution in the Philadelphia area. I love how well the different colors showed up.
