If you will be in the Mid-west... mid-April to early-June... great weather... and maybe a thunderstorm or two. And the occasional Tornado. And that is when the wild raspberries are ripe. Ain't nothin' in the world quite like a handful of ripe, juicy black raspberries...(pronounced "Raz-berries")

I don’t know any place quite like the Mid-west States. I don’t mean that in a “We are better than any other place!” way… I just mean, I do not know what other countries have the change of seasons like we do. In the Winter the Wind Chill (what the temp. feels like on human skin) can reach -70F ( -57C) and in the dead heat of Summer the Humidity index (How hot it feels on the human body) can reach +120F (+49C) and the times between are incredible. There are days, weeks in the Spring and Fall when the humidity is nonexistent… and the sky is brilliant blue… and the temp is blissfully moderate. People from other parts of the world often say to me (especially in the night of Winter) “WHY??? Do you live there???” It is because of the Spring days that promise glory and the days of Autumn that echo beauty. In sports there is a saying---“I live for this moment!” In Illinois there is a sense… the moment is alive for us. Heat, cold, thunderstorms, tornadoes… but in the midst are a few weeks, days… of days without equal.

Does that make any sense at all?
