I agree that photography/art is subjective Mark, in fact so much so that sometimes I find it difficult to critique an image because who is to say that the way "I" like or "think" the image should be, "is in fact the way it should be"...you know? Yes, I can say what I like but if you look at my portfolio you will see what "I" like, and other than a crop or a tilted horizon, an out of focus subject, a noisy image, a cluttered image, an over or underexposed image etc, I try not to impose my likes on the artist because after all we are seeing it from their point of view.
Or in the words of Ansel Adams: "No man has the right to dictate what other men should perceive, create or produce, but all should be encouraged to reveal themselves, their perceptions and emotions, and to build confidence in the creative spirit."
Yes these controversies go on and on and who is right? In my opinion, none of us, because we can only decide what is right for us...and nothing else. And yes we can make suggestions because I do believe that it is only through viewing other presentations that we learn and grow. A good example is this image. Initially I thought the vertical presentation was the better of the three, I now like the square format better but only because it was presented and I was allowed to SEE it and that impression changed my former thinking so it is truly good to explore and share ideas.
Thank you for sharing this with me and for having an open mind...a great day to you!! :):)

Thank you for taken the time to help me. Photography is so subjective, what a 1000 people like 10000 will not. I'm not here for the awards or a pat on the back. I'm here for the feed back. If there something amiss from my photography I liked being told about it. With cropping you can make a really mundane photo stand out. So I think the cropping is just as important as taken the original photo. Also I think the medium you print out also plays a part in this (I generally am for 10X8 and above don't like small prints). Anyhows enough of my babbling. Keep it, that's all I say.

PS...if your goal is to show the columns, the original image does a better job of doing that...:)

Hi Mark, wow I really do like your attitude. You never know when you make a suggestion how one will take it, so I appreciate your open mind. My favorite is the (1408509). I like the vertical presentation because it further emphasizes the verticals of the columns. I also like the clean diagonals, and btw the rust is very beautiful, it also shows a diagonal in green, as well as the concrete, for me it's a stronger abstract...but that's only my opinion, I think you had a great image to begin with, I was looking at the recent uploads and your image caught my eye and made me want to see more, so it's nice just the way it is too...the color is gorgeous...have a good evening...:))

Excellent thank you, this is what I want. Constructive critism. I'm going to give it a go.

Beautiful colors, textures, and diagonal Mark. What do you think of cropping it, that is taking off the top so it's right down to the columns, for me it's a stronger image that way, but we all see things with different eyes, and this is a great! Very nice work! :)
