Andre,
Yes, I miss the old hand crafted stuff. I did a hand made knife and a tomahawk in 12th grade. They rocked and I earned an "A", go figure?
All what they say is true. I know because I have watched the sound track and researched this 1 carfully.
I spoke with my Rental manager today and he said, that while at the Ford dealer in Arlington TX, they only had 1 on order and it was already sold. Then with my Tech guy, which is a car nut and he went by Town East Ford in Mesquite TX and his salesman said it wouldn't be out for 2 more months... hehehe
What have I started? :)
No joke, "God" has blessed me, because no one in town can get 1 and I just walked in a bought it @ Grand Prairie Ford off the show room floor and only paid list. They had it marked up $5000.00, then took it off after I expressed my thoughts on that subject... hehehe
All my Love to You and Yours,
Martin

Yep, Long gone are the days when a little old wrinkled French craftsman would spend all day putting those little swirls on by hand. :)
I was reading about the Bullit a little bit today. Did you know that Ford went to the trouble of tuning your exhaust sound to duplicate as close as possible the sound of the original 390 Mustang in the movie? That would be the sound of the digitally enhanced 40th anniversary DVD they were talking about. Andre

Martin. Thank god for that. I was stressing at the thought of making a mistake after so much hard work. Have a great evening and leave it in the garage tonight. Hate to see bugs splattered all over the windscreen. Keith

Keith,
Well doing it by hand simply means they had to dial in all the controls for each circle. I took machine shop some 28 years ago and that is what we did. A hicup would not cause any grief... ;)
Thank you my wonderful friend,
Martin

Andre,
I'm pretty sure this was all automatic with a computer and a CNC program, not like the good old days, but I guess I can live with it... ;)

Hi Martin, There is a real skill to getting this kind of finish on aluminum or steel. It looks great when done right like this, but you can really screw up if you are not careful. We used to do it by hand on all our tools when I started my apprenticeship. However this was most likely done with a CNC program, if I'm not mistaken. Another great detail from the Bullit! Andre
