Dave,

First off....Let me start this off with saying Merry Christmas and Happy and Prosperous New Year!!!

This shot has it all, Composition, DOF, Striking colors, Moodyness(Not that Moodyness is a word) lol.

I have spent the last 20 minutes viewing this shot and have the following comments.

The Composition of the shot has Perfect rules of thirds.
With the dramatic clouds drawing the eye through the shot combined with the mountain in the mid ground drawing the eye through the shot are all pulled together with the Icey water leading the eye through the shot all ending up at the same location.....the Warmth of the last rays Light!

Couple of questions for you...

1) did you use a Graduated ND filter?( Singh Ray 3stop soft graduated would have been my choice)

I know you probably know this.
2) did you use a Polarizer?

I think that Stacking a 3stop soft Nd Grad filter with a Polarizer would have unlocked the colors of the sky more, while allowing you to properly the FG and the BG at the same time without having to take two different exposures and sandwhiching them together in Photoshop.

3) Why the Frame....I know that Photography is subjective and in my humble opinion.....Your Photography is at such a FANTASTIC LEVEL that it does not need any help to accentuate the shot.
To me, it takes a bit away from your Fantastic Photography!
People baffle me, How can a shot of this calibur have 11 views and only recieve 2 comments??

In short my friend....Keep up the Fantastic Photography, I wish that I had more time in the day to be able to comment on each and every shot that you upload....just know that I am able to view your uploads, but not always able to leave comments. DANG WORK!!! You would think that they wouldn't care if they are paying you to look and comment on Pic's but Ig uess the may frown upon it!!! Lol

Best Regards

Sam Graziano III
