The exactness of your definition of nature is always amazing, Dave! And here the exact focus/DoF went hand in hand with exact timing, when that nice woody posed the best it could! It is exciting to see how seemlessly it integrates with its surroundings and still remains wonderful for a capture.

Hi Dave .. Even the other day I had seen this, but then was not possible to comment on your woodpeacker .. It is absolutely great capture this example .. And the detail is great! But I see a little chromatic aberration around to the topic particularly (subject) & the background! Maybe it's also the effect of digiatl-zoom! A very great woody-shot! ciao, my friend... roby 7
also why is difficult subject...!

Hi Dave, Yeah. It's a great little trick that can really make a difference in how natural the image looks. That kind of thing happens a lot with the S5000 in that kind of situation. As you say, you have to be careful not to desaturate a colour that is in the bird. We don't want to be creating a mutant species :) Andre

Hi Dave, You have a real nice shot of this Downy posted. They are deceivingly hard to photograph. They are always on the move. This one looks like a young one. You got him in perfect focus. Also hard to do because of the feathers. The only thing I might have tried with this shot is to selectively desaturate the cyan or magenta to get rid of the slight aura on the tree twigs in the background. I find that doing that gives a nice natural look to the background, yet doesn't effect the colours on the bird. Andre
