Excellent observation John! You know, I really do think photographers seem to look at the world differently . . . from non-photogs AND from each other . . . and that makes for a wonderful variation in photographic compositions. That said, I saw that pattern too and had even considered composing a B&W shot to accent it, but alas, tiger cubs do not cooperate and rarely slow down. I'm not sure it would have worked but I would have given it a shot had he laid on or adjacent to the log! :)

And one day this will all be mine... I'm always fascinated how patterns in nature repeat - I'm seeing tiger patterns on the log! (I'd probably be seeing spots if there was a dalmatian standing on it...) Very elegant.

I was wondering, really, the whole time, Doyle. But now that you say, yes sir! It does make sense! I guess they keep the general air consitions close to the habitat of the animal, so that they feel as good as possible. Now, tiger means jungle, and jungle means moisture, so that your idea is really reasonable.

Thanks a lot for the time and the thoughts!

Nick

Ok . . . I've looked and considered Nick. I can only conclude that the early morning rain and residual moisture in the air, combined with the distance involved is responsible. Sound like that might be it?? :)

Thanks Shyamal! The ground sloped down and opened up well in fron of him here . . . so he used the height and ability to hide as cover for an attack on his brother! Very cute!

I actually like the composition, I think the palm tree lends to a sense of busyness behind the cub, which acts as a contrast to the relative compositional calm in front of the cub. The sharpness is the only point that is bothersome.

As a composition it is very nice as it includes the necessary parts for a nice view but not anything superfluous, with the small exception of those plamtree leaves at the top left, that act a bit like "intruders".

The colors, especially on the young tiger, and the chosen moment for shooting are also very good - the master of the domain looks also like a master in posing!

But the sharpness of details on his fur looks a bit too soft, though I can't really say why as he *is* in focus. What happened here? Why that kind of "haze" against total clarity? I am really helpless - any ideas, Doyle?

All the best,

Nick

Hi Doyle - very nice series -- I love your titles -- See how I've missed your wit and humor --I have & others have too..It's been pretty dead around here --I guess most people actually have a life -lol :))

This is another cute image well composed, nice color, but the clarity is a little off..probably due to down -sizing it ..Anyway I Love it , and 'welcome ' back ...
Please don't stay away so long anymore !!!

Best Regards Always,
Michele~
