About One of the few remaining old fashioned grain elevators. The once marked every little town along the railway line on the prairies, but are being replaced by the larger, more centralized elevators of today. This one is being preserved in the town of Tyndall, Manitoba.

Thanks for posting this Dave. From small town mid America I remember these so well. In fact my father ran one for a while when I was young. Del.

This is so beautiful with the rich color of the sunset, and I love the silhouetted shape of the grain elevator, it does look like a sentinal. Alison

The coloring is fanastich here, Dave. I didn't know what would happen if the black part with the trees and the building at the bottom would be kept completely black without any further details, and so I altered the image - what do you think? The bricks on the left side of the tower seem to somehow disturb the dark appearance of the building and in general the sudden change of coloring at the contours of the silhouettes against the colorful background.

best wisches,

Nick

Good shot, a beautiful color scele on the sky from the very hot colors of the horizon to the cold tones of the top of your image, looks like the area being in fire...beautiful, the silhouette of the building is nice and the way the blocks viewed at the one side of it, even little bit, beautiful photo... but if you have here an old building, what do you think to give a little support on them using the flash? Just an idea, there is no good and bad between two ideas, just something different, and OF COURSE IF that building worths something like that...
Excellent photo Dave.
Best regards!

Hi Dave. This image really works well as a silhouette. Very nicely done.
I have an old slide that I scanned of a Co-op grain elevator in Sask. I got some nice storm clouds in the background and even a freight train going by beside it. Unfortunately, the quality suffers, so I never did post it. I might include it as a small image in a montage some day.

Great shot Dave, the silhouette is immediately recognizable and is as you said quickly fading from our landscape. You have an excellent sunset image, and a beautiful composition. Well done!
