A pretty nice image as you present the trait not from a usual point of view, hiden (before 5 seconds) at teh back of the hill and viewed nicely on the diagonal side of that hill, well seen image...

ja ja ja ja... Thank you, Alicia. That Google translator translated "gusano" into "worm", the slippery little things you fish with... I don't see a big black worm in the photo.
Best photos to ya! Dave

Well, as I suggested, I quite like the translucent feel. I wouldn't crop since you had obviously set yourself up with the trees on either side. But having done that, and knowing that you were waiting for the train, I assume you took quite a few shots as it came into (and out of) view. So maybe one of those has the engine less centred and/or more in profile.

Hi Dave, i kinda liked the idea of ur muted/colored pencil-look but somehow it lacks the punch. i would prefer the one posted then the original :-)

Thank you, Debjit... I did use PS on this, for a muted/colored pencil-look while bringing back the subject train to near original...
Here's the original photo, would you say I should have left it alone (except for cropping and contrasting)?
Appreciate your critique and further words!

Thanks, AJ. Obviously I did PS a lot of this, using a technique that generally results in a colored pencil drawing... or a technique I've been playing with a lot.
Okay, here is my original photo. Do you think I should have just left it alone, other than cropping?
I am crop-challenged on a lot of my photos... I thought about cropping this one to take it out of the center, but I kind of liked the tree frames. Believing that the engine was not totally centered (not centered vertically), I decided not to worry about the horizontal center and left this photo uncropped.
Your opinion is welcomed further!

She'll be wearing pink pyjamas when she comes, when she comes...
There's lots I like here, but lots I question also. I mean, you admit yourself that you had 20 minutes to set the shot up!
I quite like the lack of contrast - it gives a sort of translucent feel to the image that is in keeping with the emissions of smoke and steam.
And it does somehow convey the feeling of a long awaited arrival through the shimmering heat haze.
But I'm less sure about the centrally placed loco - it's in a position where it loses its loco "shape".
And I don't know, but parts of the image seem a tad oversharpened viz. tree on right, embankment behind.
Overall, a nice shot but just lacking that final "oomph".
