Well, that explains everything, LOL.
I'm from the Chicago area, too.. but that was a lifetime ago. And Denver, too. And I'll probably be in the Sacto area in late September. Maybe I'll try again for a visit to Yosemite.

Hi Dave! Thank you for your kind comments and for the chuckle. You have a great immagination! You are correct, my home is in Sacramento right now. It was another lifetime when it was in the Chicago area (and happy it is behind me...sad to say but the big city life is not for me). If my garden was as big as the expanse between here and Chicago, you can be sure I'd spend most, if not all of my time, in Colorado, which by the way was where I made my home once also (smile). I would love to spend some more time in NM some day. The landscape is incredible there... I spend a few days in the Ruidoso area and even stopped by the UFO museum in Roswell. You're in a wonderful, photographic, area. Best regards, Brigitte

Nice macro.... you have a big backyard! Your house is in Sacramento, I think... but your garden in Illinois... LOL. Next time you go out to the garden, stop in and see me in NM....
Nice saturation in this, good light, not bright and not too dark.
Best wishes, Dave

AJ, thank you so much for your kind comment and the great, helpful advise. I was thinking the same thing about the DOF, but wasn't sure I could pull it off. You gave me the encouragement I needed to go ahead and work it out, although it did take some time - it was worthwhile. I also adjusted the crop so it wasn't so tight at the top near the stamen and reduced the sharpness on the lily a bit. I think I like it a lot better. Thanks so much for taking the time to give me a very helpful critique. :-)
Please let me know what you think of the new, hopefully improved, version.

A lovely shot with beautiful colours. The drops add nicely to the composition. But there are a couple of things that strike me. I think the stamen area is perhaps a little high in the image. It could help the overall effect if it was a little lower, which could perhaps be achieved by tilting the flower head a few degrees towards the camera. I think a little less DOF might also work here as well, having the effect of blurring the background some more.
