Very remarkable lighting. It perfectly conveys the "cold" winter lighting. The prominant contrast also works very well. Brian, I'm glad discovering you. As a beginner I hope to learn a lot from your works. Thank you.

Great 40ies-style photography, reminds me of Feininger. I like the dark shadows and the "unperfect" look of this all -- very moody.

This certainly captures the feeling of a cold morning in the city. The lighting was really difficult. I think it would be better with more detail in the shadows, but fully realize that the negative just may not have the density. First class. Thanks for posting this.

for all those loving this image .. i have to say i have had the pleasure of personaly knowing and watching Brian grow from doing (not such great work) into doing such excellent work like this ... he is a natural when it comes to seeing and has grown into quite the image maker ... this image and others on the same roll are exquisite and some of my favorites .. his portfolio on the whole is growing strong and deserves a good looking at .. great image here!!!!

Hey, good to see you here too. You're right, the combo you used here is magical. Not enough people pay attention to light when they snap. If it's not there it doesn't matter what you do, the photo won't work. That's part of the reason why I'm working with chrome film all spring and summer, tocapture the deep contrasts and blacks that are only 1/2 stop off right exposure. Give it a try, you may get addicted.
