He looks like he is posing for you trying to how you his noble side. Another wonderful shot. I've never been to Park Omega. But, I don't know about going. Like you, seeing qnimals deprived of their true freedom even though they are well cared for has something inherently sad about it. MAry

Hi Joe,
I would enjoy that very much. I have had occasion in the past to visit Big Rideau. It is a beautiful place. We should keep in touch. I don't have any family or other commitments, so I'm very flexible with my time. You can contact me at tcweeks(at)rogers.com. Just let me know when you have some time available on a weekend and we'll see if we can't get together. My computer at home just died last night so it may be a day or two before I'm back in business.

Hi Todd, That's the problem with wild animals in captivity. No matter how much effort is made to make their enclosures resemble their natural habitat, the animals always look unhappy and bored. Since all life essentials are provided they no longer have a purpose in life. It's sad.
I would like to get together sometime. I live on Big Rideau Lake near Rideau Ferry. We could visit some areas around here or you could show me some of your areas in the Ottawa area. Regards, Joe

Hi Joe,
I have mixed feelings about Park Omega. On the one hand, there are a good variety of animals in natural surroundings. On the other hand (you have five different fingers), there is no "life" in the wildlife. All the animals look bored and depressed. I don't think I have the heart to return.
That being said, perhaps you and I should get together for an outing some time. We're not that far from each other.

Great shot . . . actually - Black Bears haven't killed a man in ages . . . though they may bite or injure them. Grizzly attacks are usually fatal. And . . . uhhhh . . .let's not discuss Polar Bears!!! Great shot again Todd!

Very interesting study. I didn't realize that these animals had such a long neck. I heard on a nature program that there are considerably more attacks on humans by Black Bears than there are by Grizzlies. Darryl
